Maelor EC has a long tradition of dressage, and regularly hosts affiliated British
Dressage events across all levels, and also unaffiliated dressage competitions
for those yet to affiliate.
A warm welcome awaits those who visit to compete or train in the discipline.
Support is available for those who require assistance on competition days (test
reading etc.). Maelor EC offers competitors a friendly environment - a reason why
many competitors return here.
The venue has one of the largest outside warm up arenas in the area, enabling
you to warm up calmly ahead of your test. The indoor school easily holds a 20 x
60 arena, and judges are accommodated in a purpose built, windowed judging
box, for thier comfort.
Dressage focused residential camps, test riding and training days are held on a regular basis, with Joanna Lloyd-Aylett and visiting
trainers, judges, sports psychologists, feed experts, vets, saddlers and fitness instructors, offering advice to maximise horse and rider
performance.
For any dressage queries, please do not hesitate to contact Joanna or her team who will be happy to help.
Represent Wales!
BYRDS North East Wales use Maelor EC as a base for lessons. The British Young Dressage Riders Scheme offers riders aged 9 -
25 the opportunity to receive training, and also to represent Wales at Home International and Inter-Regional Dressage competitions.
Please contact Angela Townsend for further information on 07789 225873.
More senior riders (25 plus) have the opportunity to represent Wales at the Home International and Inter Regional competitions by
taking part in BD organised training days at Maelor EC with Joanna Lloyd Aylett. To be considered for the team, three sessions
have to be taken with a BD trainer on the days advertised in BD magazine. Joanna offers monthly sessions at Maelor EC - please
see the event calendar for further information. Additional selection criteria can be viewed on the BD website. Riders of all levels can
take part - from Prelim to PSG - don't be shy, come and join in the fun!
